THIS PAGE IS ABOUT MY RATS

We have 3 rats. First i collected Ruby who is a year old and her owner had gone away to university and left Ruby with his mum. His mum felt that although she loved animals she was a bit nervous about rats so she felt that it would be better to rehome her with someone who did like rats. Ruby is very nervous as she hadn't been handled much, but over the weeks i've had she is starting to come round but it is going to take time. I would also like to get a female friend for her as rats really need company of their own kind. She is a beauitful beige and white rat and she loves my hubbys sunday dinners.

A few weeks ago 2 male rats came to live with us. They are only 8 months old and their owner was very sad to give them up but he had problems with his landlord who insisted that everyone had to give up their animals. They are very loving rats who really enjoy human company and my youngest son enjoys looking after them. They also enjoy their food and their toys. They have been renamed Itchy & Scratchy and we have put their cage next to Ruby so they can keep her company.

SAD NEWS

We are sad

I woke up this morning (29th may) and was very sad to find that scratchy had died in the night he was fine yesterday eating well and running around quite happy so i don´t know why he died. Itchy was by his side and is now very sad so i´m trying to make him happier by giving him lots of extra attention.
R.I.P Scratchy you were only with us for a short time but you will be in our heart and memories for life.

UPDATED 27TH JUNE 2008

Introducing Harrison a 18 month old Siamese rat he is very laid back and loves to be cuddled and made a fuss off. I am hoping he will make friends with Itchy as Itchy really needs a friend as he has been by himself since Scratchy died. At the moment they are sharing a large cage which has a wire wall in it so that Harrison & Itchy can see and smell each other but can't get to each other. In a weeks time i will remove the wire wall and fingers crossed they will like each other i will keep you updated.
