THIS PAGE IS ABOUT MY GUINEA PIGS

You will find below all the guinea pigs that live with us and some info about them.

UPDATED 22ND JULY 2008

Last night i got 2 new 18month old male guinea's, we have called them Slowcoach & Boo. They are both very laid back guinea's and both are a little overweight so i will be watching them closely. Today i put them in a run in my back garden and i introduced Whoops the baby guinea to them and they have all got on very well together. I think putting a young guinea with older ones gives the older ones a new lease of life and these 2 needed this as they both started running round the run with Whoops. They have now gone into a hutch together for the night and have all cuddled up together and gone sound asleep. They look so sweet.

I will post photo's very soon so watch this space.

UPDATED 21ST JULY 2008

We are sad to say that this morning we found that Bill had died overnight. He showed no sign of illness but that is typical of guinea's. The other 3 seem fine.

UPDATED 20TH JULY 2008

I would like to introduce you to 2 new guinea's. Whoops is a 6 week old baby boy who came with his sisters August & June. I have decided to keep as he is the only male of the bunch i will be introducing him to 2 male's that are coming tomorrow so i will have 2 groups of boys. I know i could put them altogether but i prefer that the max number of guinea's in any groups should be 4, their is no rule really its just what i like.

Sunny is a 1 year old longhaired female guinea who at the moment is living with Midnight and the 2 babies. I'm sure she is pregnant so i will be keeping her and hoping some of her babies will be female so they can stay with her.

Below is Whoops and below him is Sunny.

Yes this guinea does have eyes they are just hiden under all the hair. In the photo below i have pushed her hair back so you can see her eyes. My daughter loves having another longhaired guinea she now has more to groom.

SATURDAY 31ST MAY 2008

Below is some photo's of the boys enjoying the long long grass in my back garden, can you spot them? Believe me the grass wasn't long when they had finished but they still wanted their evening meal typical guinea's.

I let the grass grow in my back garden just for the animals who needs a lawn mower when you have rabbits & guinea's.

ALL BOYS TOGETHER

I now have 4 male guinea pigs that will stay with me. 2 came from a lovely lady who felt she couldn't give them the love and time they needed because she was doing alot more work. They are lovely rough haired guinea's and are 1 year old they were called Bill & Ted but my little girl renamed them Bill & Ben after the flower pot men. We have had them for a few weeks now and my little girl adores them and insists that she will do all the looking after (she is 9 years old but off course i do supervise her). As soon as she comes home from school she gets them out of their hutch and gives them a cuddle and lets them have a run around the lounge. She also loves brushing them too and they will also feed from her hand. She says they love sitting on her lap and watching tv with her. She cleans them out twice a week and gives them fresh food and water daily and cleans their bowls daily.

Below is Bill

And this is Ben

Within a few days of getting Bill & Ben i rescued 2 rabbits that had a guinea pig with them. I can not stress enough PLEASE PLEASE don't put guinea pigs in with rabbits i have seen what rabbits can do to guinea pigs including kill them. Once i got the rabbits and guinea pig home i inderduced the guinea to Bill & Ben and now this guinea pig has been named 'little weed' and lives happily with Bill & Ben.

This is Little Weed

This week (8/4/2008) i collected 2 rabbits and 1 male guinea pig (who again was with the rabbits but the lady done this after the guinea's mate died and she throught it would be ok). This male guinea is a bit of a cross breed it looks like a long/rough haired guinea pig. He is quite big and very laid back. He has been renamed 'Scamper' and he too now happily lives with Bill, Ben & Little Weed ( i think you can see the theme here). So my daughter is very happy now and so are the guinea's they get lots of loving.

Here is Scramper and below that is all 4 boys together.

We are sad to say that this morning we found that Bill had died overnight. He showed no sign of illness but that is typical of guinea's. The other 3 seem fine.
