My names Brenda and i have been married to Paul for nearly 18 years and we have 4 children. I started rescueing small animals after we moved to our house. I started with 1 gerbil that my son then only 7 years wanted i didn't know much about gerbils so i looked into them and other small animals and so my love for small animals started.
I got my first rabbit called Layla from a gentlemen who needed a home for her as his newborn son was allegic to her fur. Layla was only 6 months old and the first time i picked her up she bit me but this didn't put me off as i decided she must have been scared.
To cut a very long story short now nearly 10 years later i now run my own rescue centre. I am home based so quite small but i do know what i'm doing i have picked up alot of knowledge over the years and i now have the RSPCA & PDSA contacting me to take on unwanted animals.
My children are very big animal lovers too and my 14 year old son is now studying hard so he can get the right GCSE's & A levels so he can get into vet school.
Over the years i have had many animals go through my hands and at the time of writing this i have the following: 3 cats, 2 kittens, 1 dog, 5 guinea's, 7 rabbits, 6 chickens, 1 fish, 3 rats & 2 hamsters.
Below is one of the animals that have now sadly died but who i have been proud to look after. You can find more on my in loving memory page.
This is annie she was nearly 9 years old when i had to have her put to sleep after she had had a stroke.
She was the first baby rabbit born at me house and her mum was Layla my 1st rabbit and her dad was Luke Skywalker my 2nd rescued rabbit. I saw her being born and she stayed with her mum until she died last year aged 10.
Annie was a great charater and she will be missed by the whole family
